4 wheel "Balerno Branch" Coach Kits

These lovely little coaches are just right for "minimum-space" modelling being so short but otherwise to the full standard of the Caley's contemporary 57' coaches such as CC4-CC6. The prototypes were built in 1921 for the Balerno and other Edinburgh branches. Sets were formed 2F + 4T + 2BT, strengthened at peak times by 3T + 1BT. Most survived to B.R. days if only just.

Note that only the Brake 3rds had dynamos and battery boxes for powering the electric light of the sets.

Caledonian Railway Coat of Arms

"Wha dare meddle wi' me" - a loose translation of the Scottish motto (nemo me impune lacessit, litterly meaning "no-one provokes me with impunity") which was appropriated along with the Scottish coat of arms (without any sanction from the Lord Lyon, King of Arms) by the Caledonian Railway Co.
